Sail with a greater purpose13 May 2016 Go back
With under a year to go before the start of the Oyster World Rally we have extended our partnership with SeaMercy – a not-for-profit charity providing aid to remote islands in the South Pacific – to enable you to sail with a greater purpose.
As well as having the opportunity to get involved in their Eye Care programme, we are also offering participants the chance to provide families with renewable light sources during their journey to this remote corner of the world.
At present there are no power lines or generators to bring light into the homes and communities of these isolated islands. In order to cook, work or read islanders rely upon dangerous, toxic and expensive kerosene lanterns as their primary source of light.
With the LuminAID PackLite 16 you can provide up to 16 hours of consistent LED light for a family, school or community to assist in their day-to-day lives. These solar powered lights are compact, easy to carry on board and will ultimately reduce the need for kerosene, improving the home, work and school environments of these islanders.
